Case Closed in August Death

New details have been released in a death investigation in Jefferson County.

Last summer 48-year-old Stephen Obbish was found dead in the backseat of a Punxsutawney police car.

Monday, the Attorney General's Office wrapped up it's investigation.

The Attorney General's Office took over the case due to a conflict of interest.

After doing a number of interviews and going through evidence, they decided not to file any charges against the officer or the police department.

In August, Obbish was arrested in a parking lot on suspicion of public drunkeness.

The officer who picked him up, Brian Andrekovich, left Obbish in the car for about five hours. That's where he was found dead.

An autopsy found that Obbish had high levels of drugs and alcohol in his system.

Now the case is closed.

In November Andrekovich ws fired, even though he had never been charged.

Police are not commenting on the case or whether Andrekovich has any future with the department.
