Rain Causes Problems For Our Region

Cambria County -- Except for the streams, the minor flooding we received has subsided, however, it is now time for many to clean up.
"A treadmill, a tanning bed, it damaged the boxes for the Christmas presents; we didn't open those yet," says Jennifer Swinger.
About the time people were avoiding flooded rush-hour roads, Jennifer was trying to remove the water from her Paint Township home's basement. Too much water in a drainage pipe caused her headache.
"Blew out the neighbor's pipe in her driveway, which caused all the water to flood down through our driveways and into our basement causing all this damage," she says.
Jennifer's pains aren't alone. Basements and roads all over our region had to deal with flooding. Cambria County 9-1-1 says they were called on 17 flooded basements. Franklin Street in Johnstown was closed for a time due to flooding, causing commuters to exercise caution and find alternate routes to their destinations.
As they clean up, the Swinger's say they kept their daughter's newly bought Christmas presents in the basement, something they will soon deal with.
"We're just going to keep going on cause I want my daughter to have the best Christmas ever... We'll deal with it. If we have to buy new, we'll buy new," says Jennifer.
Tuesday. Had temperatures been a 10 to 20 degrees colder we would have ended up with a foot or more of snow.
