ALTOONA, Pa. -- Agents with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office and local law enforcement officers conducted a drug suspect sweep in Blair County Monday morning.

Attorney General Kathleen Kane said the year-long investigation resulted in the identification of nine street-level individuals wanted for allegedly dealing drugs, specifically heroin and prescription narcotics in the Altoona area.

Investigators said agents made a series of undercover and controlled drug purchases in and around Altoona, which lead to the identification of the suspects. Information gathered from street-level dealers and users will be used to target mid- to upper-level drug dealers through the AG's Bureau of Narcotics Investigation, Kane said.

Kane said drug activity information was gathered from calls to Blair County's Push Out the Pusher hotline and the work of the Blair County Drug Task Force, which conducted street-level investigations.

Assisting with Monday's roundup included the Blair County District Attorney's Office, Blair County Sherriff's Office and the Altoona Police Department, Kane said. She also thanked business and community leaders involved with Operation Our Town for their work and efforts in combating drugs and crime in Blair County communities.

The Push Out the Pusher hotline is 1-866-693-3020.
