FRANKSTOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- State police in Blair County ended the search for a man who caused a school to go on lockdown after threatening to harm himself, and running into the woods with a gun.

State police at Hollidaysburg said Brandon Dale Newton, 23, was found dead at about 5 p.m. Saturday. Police were unable to find him after a lengthy search in and around Frankstown Township on Thursday evening.

Police filed an arrest warrant for theft of a firearm and receiving stolen property on Friday.

Police said Newton made threats that he was going to harm himself and ran into nearby woods with a gun around 2 p.m. Thursday.

The threat led police to notify Frankstown Elementary School in the Hollidaysburg Area School District, which district officials placed on a community lockdown. No students or staff were in any danger during the lockdown, district officials said.

The school was open and  normal operations resumed Friday, officials said.

Police would not release where Newton was found or how he died.
