DUBOIS, Pa. -- A special dinner is being planned to help an area state trooper who was shot and severely wounded in Jefferson County last year.

Friends and family of Trooper Bradley Wilson are coordinating a spaghetti benefit dinner in DuBois to help him with costs associated with his recovery. Wilson, who is now a quadriplegic and in an Atlanta medical facility recovering, was shot by Kenneth Lees Sr. in September 2013 while trying to serve a search warrant.

Family friend Debbie Howell is one of the event organizers and said being a part of the event is the least she can do because Wilson's brother, Jeff, who is a state police sergeant, helped find Howell's mother, who had wandered away from her living facility.

"His brother is my station commander [at] the Clarion barracks, he's my boss, and he's been wonderful as a station commander for me," Howell said. "He helped me out with my mom, she has Alzheimer's [disease] and she walked away from the nursing home."

The benefit dinner will be April 12 at Palaski's Club in DuBois from 12 - 6 p.m. Each dinner plate will be $7 and DelGrosso's is donating the food for the event.
