The American Cancer Society asking for your enrollment in a study called Cancer Prevention Study-3" (CPS-3), a nationwide effort to help prevent cancer and ultimately eliminate it.
"I am enrolled and I am extremely excited, hoping I can be a part of something bigger than myself."
Stephanie Iachini enrolled in the cancer study.
"For us to participate locally here in a study across the country is "unbelievable," she said.
Researchers are looking for 300,000 people across the county, hoping to find some in our area. They also are looking for diversity, even people who have unhealthy habits like smoking.
"Absolutely we want you. We want people who take part in risk factors," she added.
There are requirements. You must be willing to make a long-term commitment of 20 years to give researchers enough time to study one individual. You must be between the ages of 29 1/2 and 60, and never have been diagnosed with cancer. If a person has had basal or squamous cell skin cancer, they can still participate.
The American Cancer Society is hoping for participation, asking people to join the movement for less cancer and longer life spans.
