JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. --
A man will stand trial on accusations he killed another man, dismembered the victim's body with a chainsaw and scattered his body parts through the woods in Jefferson County.
Michael Christopher Shugars, of Punxsutawney, is accused of killing 33-year-old Chet Allen Haddow.
In September, two men who were fishing in the Mahoning Creek discovered part of Haddow's body. Shugars was arrested shortly after and charged with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, aggravated assault and other charges.
Officials said Shugars and Haddow knew each other and at one point may have been friends. Police believe drugs, specifically heroin, led to the gruesome killing.
