FERGUSON TWP., CENTRE CO., Pa. -- Police in Centre County said they found dozens of they believe are stolen bicycles and now are trying to get them back to their owners
Police said the bicycles were discovered in the basement of a house, and there is a suspect in the case.
Along with bikes, parts and pieces of bikes were apparently discovered by a locksmith who was called in to change the locks on a house in a rural area of Ferguson Township last week.
“We think we stumbled onto a bike chop shop,” said Ferguson Township Sgt. Robert Glenny.
A search warrant in the case says 66 bikes were discovered and many are well known brand names including Trek, Cannondale and Schwinn.
The search warrant said there are many reports of stolen bikes in the area because of the popularity among Penn State students.
Also seized by police from the house were multiple electronic items, along with televisions and computers.
A suspect listed in the search warrant was linked to stolen jewelry in State College earlier this year.
