PHILLIPSBURG, Pa-The community welcomed home St. Louis Cardinal first baseman Matt Adams from the World Series.
"It blew my mind how many people came to support us," Adams said.
The Philipsburg-Osceola community, decked out in red and white, gave Adams a special welcome home by throwing a parade.
The Cardinals may have lost, but Adams' achievements are a home run in their score book.
"We know it was is dream come true. He always wanted to play baseball," Adams' grandmother Janet Teats said.
Adams' dreams came true, but not without a bit of sacrifice along the way.
"Takes a toll on you. Being away from family and friends for a month out a year, but if you put your mind to it anything is possible," he said.
Adams signed autographs, smiled alongside fans and showed young ones they too can be play in the big leagues.
"I was in their shoes a couple years back. Hard work and determination and you put your mind to it, anything is possible. That's the message kids need to know, no matter where you are from," Adams said.
