CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. —

One adult was killed when a passenger car collided with a tri-axle coal truck in Clearfield County.

The crash happened on Route 879, also known as Clearfield-Shawville Highway, on Monday morning.

The coal truck driver was taken to the hospital.  The driver's daughter told 6 News he received several stitches but will be OK.

Pennsylvania State Police are reconstructing the crash as part of the investigation.

Route 879 is closed from the Interstate 80 interchange at Exit 120 to the Shawville Bridge in both directions.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation expects Route 879 to be closed until at least 6 p.m. as emergency responders work in the area. Eastbound Route 879 is open to Sapp Brothers Travel Center, while the westbound lane closure starts at Airport Road.

Officials with PennDOT said all traffic is to use alternate routes, and drivers should proceed with caution and be prepared for stopped or slow-moving traffic and emergency personnel.
