ALLEGHENY TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

One person was killed when a car and tractor-trailer crashed late Sunday on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The name of the victim had not been released as of noon Monday.

Pennsylvania State Police said the crash happened in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 124 in Allegheny Township, Somerset County.

The wreckage forced state police to close down a 36-miles stretch of the highway between the Somerset and Bedford interchanges.

The turnpike reopened just after 7 a.m. Monday.
