19-Year-Old Arrested After Troopers Find Heroin, Sawed-off Shotgun

WOODLAND, Pa. —

Investigators said a 19-year-old accused of selling heroin and crack cocaine to a police informant is facing a second round of charges.

Court documents obtained by WJAC-TV said Joshua McLaughlin sold crack cocaine to police informants and undercover officers on three occasions between October and December.

After McLaughlin was arrested, troopers say they searched his mobile home on Pine Top Road in Woodland and seized two marijuana plants, 17 stamp bags of suspected heroin, two scales, packaging materials, drug paraphernalia and a sawed-off 12-gauge Stevens Arms shotgun.

Clearfield County District Attorney Bill Shaw told WJAC-TV that anonymous tips from neighbors helped in the investigation.

“Woodland is a great community; however, it's like every other community in the commonwealth. I think that drugs have infiltrated everybody's neighborhood,” said Shaw. “People are reluctant to get involved because they fear retribution. That's a legitimate concern. This case is a prime example. Multiple reports and we did something about it. People shouldn't be afraid."

McLaughlin is being held in the Clearfield County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
