2 Firefighters Critically Wounded While Crashing On Way To Blaze

Two Indiana County volunteer firefighters remained in critical condition on Monday after crashing on their way to a fire.

Michael Keith and his passenger, 22-year-old Crystal Keith, are both members of the Cherry Tree Volunteer Fire Department. Officials said the pair were responding to a fire just after 8:30 p.m. Sunday when their car struck a utility pole on Front Street in Cherry Tree.

Another firefighter on the way to the same blaze discovered the crash.

Michael Keith was airlifted by medical helicopter to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center and Crystal Keith was airlifted to Altoona Regional Hospital.
