This is the 11th year the Good Housekeeping Institute has awarded its annual "Good Buy Awards." It's the institute's way of recognizing truly innovative household products that solve a common household problem.

"The products are new in the last year and theyre affordable to consumers, says John Kupsch, Technical Director, Good Housekeeping Institute.

The GE Profile Dishwasher with SmartDispense may look like just another dishwasher, but it holds enough liquid detergent to clean dishes for almost three months.

You can take an entire 45 ounce bottle of detergent, fill up the smart dispense system and then close it," says Nate Benforado, Appliances Tester, Good Housekeeping Institute. "And then, for about two to three months, itll automatically dispense the proper amount of detergent based on your water hardness, your cycle selection, your water temperature and the amount of soil on the dishes.

The Bissell SpotBot also cleaned up, winning a Good Housekeeping Good Buy Award for the way it gets stains out of carpets.
