It was back in November when we told you about Penn State trustee Mark Dambly and his brush with the law when he was a student here. That wasn’t the big surprise of the story. That came when we asked Dambly about his five days in the Centre County prison and he denied knowing anything about it. And now dambly is one a special trustee committee to select Penn State’s president.

Dambly's lack of recalling his documented five days in jail drew a quick response from many, especially Penn State alumni.

Carole Vail, Dambly petition organizer, says “It was stunning to me that he would stay something like that. I totally agree, we all have youthful indiscretions, but it’s always the denial and the cover-up that is very troubling.”

Carole Vail has taken her concerns about Dambly a step further, developing a letter and Facebook petition campaign, questioning why Dambly is in position on the presidential support committee and calling for his resignation form the trustees. Vail says Dambly isn't living up to his own words that he said after Joe Paterno was fired.

Vail adds, "One of the things Dambly said was ‘If you coach youth and represent the university then you have to hold yourself to higher standards and Joe didn't.’ I'd say to Mr. Dambly, if you don't remember being in jail for five days, maybe you should look at your own standards.”

Vail's recently drew up the letter and says she's already hearing a lot of support from other Penn State alum.

Carol Vail is a Johnstown native  who now lives here in State College. Penn State board of trustees meets this Friday on the University Park campus, where we may hear an update from the presidential search committee.
