8 PSU students charged with furnishing alcohol to minors in connection with cheerleader's fall

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. —

According to a release from State College police, eight Penn State University students have been charged with alcohol-related crimes after another student fell from a fifth-floor window.

The following students have been charged with furnishing alcoholic beverages to a minor, which is a misdemeanor, and related offenses.

Megan E. Markovitz, Age 21
Adaire B. Robinson, Age 21
Alexandra M. Hipple, Age 20
Brooke A. Piccione, Age 20
Alyssa A. Duffy, Age 19
Julie A. Hannan, Age 19
Madeline C. Miller, Age 19


The charges were filed Tuesday and will be sent to the defendants via a summons.

According to the news release, State College Police Department completed an investigation initiated after 19-year-old Paige Raque was seriously injured after falling from a fifth-floor apartment window at Calder Commons at 520 East Calder Way. Investigators said they determined the fall from inside Apartment 507 was accidental.

The investigation identified eight Penn State students who allegedly furnished alcoholic beverages to minors who were attending the party on Oct. 13, 2012.
