94-Year-Old Woman Continues To Run Her Own Hair Salon

EVERETT, Pa. —

Most people in the community of Everett know Rose Schetrompf is not your typical woman and is tough to keep up with.

The Bedford County beautician has worked for 71 years, owns her own business, and still makes time for cooking, baking and gardening.

On Mother's Day, she will celebrate being 94 years young.

"I've worked for 71 years. "I was off when I had my children, then came back to work," Schetrompf said. "I love it. -- wouldn't've stayed with it if I didn't."

Out of her six children, four are already retired themselves. And even after a hip replacement, Schetrompf is still working at least three days a week -- which is good news for her loyal customers.

"She's the only one who's ever done my hair except for a couple times," said Dorothy Hess.

As for retiring from her Main Street beauty shop, Schetrompf said with a laugh, "I haven’t decided yet."
