Blair County —
A Blair County Commissioner fears the city of Altoona could be left in a desperate situation. That's if the Altoona Regional Health System moves its facilities out of the downtown part of the city. Commissioner John Eichelberger is afraid that property values will plummet and it will cause detrimental competition for the private sector. The Health System says it is a possibility but unlikely. However, hospital officials do admit something has to change so they can accommodate the baby boomers in the next ten to twenty years.
