Amtran Cutting Routes/Staff

Amtran in Blair County could make some major changes to its bus routes and to staffing. Amtran officials announced Saturday three full time bus drivers will be laid off and moved to the top of the part time roster, and routes throughout Blair County will change or completely be eliminated. They're proposing the cuts because they say they don't have enough money to continue the service they had in the past. "It's almost nine percent of our service, so it's pretty significant," says Eric Wolf of Amtran. "We are laying off three bus drivers. They will go from the full-time list to the part-time roster." Riders with any comments or questions can go to Amtran's next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 23, at 8:30 in the morning at the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona.
