Annual Sports Show In Blair County Gets Underway

Blair County —

The annual Jaffa Sports Show that is underway in Altoona is like heaven for outdoorsmen. "We like the fishing and the lures and my son is a knife collector so we get to come out and look at some different stuff," said Joe Gibbons, who was enjoying the show.

For those interested in hunting there are also a lot of displays to check out. And when it comes to ATV riding, boating, fishing and other outdoor activites there is also lot to see. "We are showing a very good crowd and we have a great variety of vendors," said Leo Matuszewski, chairman of the Sports Show. "We have some new seminar people this year."

And for the up and coming outdoorsmen there are things to try their hands at. "Trying to catch a fish...it's fun," said Alec Sdrittmatter, one of a number of children at the indoor fishing pond.

So for this weekend at least the outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a slice of heaven right here on earth. The Sports Show is being held at the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona. It runs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission for adults is $4 and $1 for children ages 6 to 12.
