Area Businesses Get Lesson On Safety

THE 2ND ANNUAL CAMBRIA COUNTY SAFETY CONFERENCE WAS HELD AT THE PASQUERILLA CONFERENCE CENTER. BUSINESSES AND AGENCIES FROM ALL OVER THE AREA WERE INVITED. VENDORS SET UP TO SHOW ITEMS FROM FOOT WEAR AND EYE SHIELDS TO OPERATING EQUIPMENT AND FIRST AID. SPEAKERS TALKED ON TOPICS FROM HANDLING FOOD TO REDUCING WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION. RICHARD BARLETT, THE CHIEF OF POLICE FOR RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, SPOKE ABOUT BUILDING SECURITY. HE SAID, "That's one of the things we have to stress to businesses. It can happen here as well as anywhere else. And you have to take certain stops to minimize those risks to secure hazardous chemicals." Debi Balog of JARI says "Companies that initiate or implement safety training programs in their companies can also get a discount on some of their insurances."

OTHER SESSIONS TOUCHED ON HEALTH AND SAFETY SYSTEMS TO DRUGS AND ALCOHOL IN THE WORKPLACE.
