Army Reserve Referral Program Reaches Milestone

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

It's a milestone for the Army Reserve Referral Program, which has now signed up 10,000 men and women nationwide since 2003. Other army reservists get people to sign up.

Johnstown Army Reserve Recruiter Andrew Folmer said, "It was a great accomplishment. I didn't realize that whenever I first started the process with the young man."

Patrick Beam of Westmont signed up Tuesday becoming the 10,000th person referred. Beam wasn't referred by just anyone; it was his wife Lt. Ashley Beam who did the recruiting.

Beam said his wife didn't influence his decision. He just realized this would make their lives better after he finished college.
