CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. —

A Somerset County man will stand trial on charges he started a Thanksgiving night fire in Johnstown that destroyed three buildings.

James McDonald, 46, of Windber, waived his preliminary hearing on Thursday for 40 criminal counts.

The charges are related to the Nov. 22 blaze in the 600 block of Coleman Avenue in the city's Moxham neighborhood.

Friday's Tribune-Democrat reported that a city police officer and a city fire official were both ready to testify on Thursday if the hearing had taken place.

A criminal complaint said McDonald admitted to setting the blaze to get back at his girlfriend's husband.
