Attempted Homicide Suspect Will Be Extradited To NC To Face Charges

A Bedford County man accused of beating his elderly relatives with a sledgehammer will be extradited to North Carolina to face attempted homicide charges.

On Thursday, Peter Huff appeared in Cambria County Court in connection with a police chase throughout the city of Johnstown. Huff waived his right to an extradition hearing, giving North Carolina police 30 days to pick him up.

Huff, 67, is accused of attacking Harold and Victoria Huff in Fairview, N.C., before coming back to the Alleghenies.

His criminal history dates back decades. More than 20 years ago, Huff served federal prison sentences for two bank robberies and even talked to WJAC-TV News about how tough living in prison is.

At that time, in the late 1980s, he was serving time for holding up the Summit Bank in Salix and the Peoples Bank & Trust in Jerome. Huff had eluded police for some time and was arrested by the FBI in Ohio. He was also charged with an armed robbery and for stealing trailers loaded with stolen goods.
