ATV Parks

It's a recreational event that continues to become more and more popular. Today, ATV and snowmobile riders got some good news. More than two million dollars in grants have been awarded to develop or improve riding opportunities for the state's reigstered riders. The largest grant from the state's department of conservation and natural resources worth two million all by itself is going towards the construction of a new park in Cambria County. A lot of riders with no place to ride was a problem in our area. Now officials hope the new park in Chest Township will accomodate riders and get rid of a persistent problem.. The grant will be given to the Cambria County Authority to purchase the land but then it's up to the authority to come up with the money for operation and maintenance costs, which is why there will be a user fee. The state will give manuals to the authority on how to build this type of park safely. There will also be officials patrolling to make sure riders are following the rules.
