Bedford County Residents Concerned About Reassessment Impact On Seniors

County Commissioners Have Plan To Help

Some Bedford County residents voiced their concerns with the reassessment process and how it effects senior citizens, but the county has already put a plan into motion to help.

Clarence Beegle is 95 years old and fears that he will lose his family farm that's been in his family for over 200 years. His daughter, Joyce, spoke to commissioners about his concerns during their weekly meeting. She said she knows some seniors who can't make it into town to learn about the process and his concerned that they too will lose their family farms.

The county commissioners acknowledged there needs to be some kind of outreach for senior citizens. They have already contacted the Area Agency on Aging about the issue. The agency plans to do special outreach for seniors so they will understand the process.
