Benefit for youngster with brain disease

By Kerri Corrado

Johnstown, PA. —

Taylor Urban was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, water in the brain that leads to swelling. She has had three surgeries, with one on the way and she is not even a year old.

A shunt, which is a piece of medical equipment that looks like a straw, is placed inside her head. This is used to drain the fluid from her skull and move it out from her head.

Financing the surgeries is hard, but Taylor’s parents say they will do whatever it takes.

“How do you put a price on your kid being able to talk or your kid being able to walk. You just can’t,” Taylors’s mom Ashlee Stormer said.

A benefit is scheduled at Shenanigans on January 25th in Richland Township to help cover Taylor’s medical bills. Anyone is welcomed. Taylor also has a Facebook prayer page called “PrayforTayUrban.”

“There’s no words. We are so incredibly grateful or everything everyone has done in the past and everything everyone is doing now to help us out. Its amazing, people you don’t even know want to help,” she said.
