Big Changes At Conemaugh Health System

JOHNSTOWN —

Conemaugh Health System plans to undergo a major consolidation, one of many changes expected over the next few months.

Officials said the emergency room will be consolidated to just the main campus on Franklin Street, which means the downtown campus will eventually be solely an outpatient facility and testing center.

Also, a new 41-bed inpatient unit will open at Good Samaritan, and inpatients from downtown will be moved there.

Other changes include adding 82 new beds at the main and downtown campuses; an employee fitness center; and valet parking beginning April 3. Also, the downtown campus of Conemaugh will be renamed the Lee Campus.

Scott Becker, CEO of Conemaugh Health System, said, "We are going to do everything we can for people to get used to new circumstances."

Residents are invited to attend a public meeting about the changes at 6 p.m., April 11, at the Holiday Inn, Market Street, Johnstown.
