Biotech Company Creates Bedford County Jobs

EVERETT, Pa. —

Lampire Biological Laboratories is a multi-million dollar biotech company in Bedford County, paving the way for cell growth and blood manufacturing.

Lampire officials said because of the tremendous workforce in the region, they're continuing to grow.

With 50 Bedford County residents already on their staff, the company is one of the largest employers in the Everett School District. Many of the employees have started as entry-level and worked their way up the management chain.

Lampire plans to hire at least 20 more employees by next year, from people with only high school degrees, to Ph.D.

Officials hope Lampire's success thus far in Bedford County, and its bright future, will have other companies looking to set up shop in the Alleghenies.

"We're close to the NIH, Windber Institute, Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C. ...This is the crossroads, right here in Bedford County," said Lampire President Greg Krug.

Rep. Bill Shuster said he spoke with a company already looking to make a move from Maryland to Bedford County.
