'Black Bandana Bandit' Convicted

BELLEFONTE, Pa. —

A Centre County jury had a mixed verdict for a man accused of committing a string of robberies in the region with help from his sister.

The jury convicted 33-year-old George Patton, also known as the "Black Bandana Bandit," of seven counts of robbery and other charges stemming from seven crimes that his sister testified she had driven him to.

The former Patton Township man was acquitted of charges from two other robberies that he was accused of committing.

The verdict came Wednesday, the same day jurors heard closing arguments.

The robberies that Patton was accused of committing took place last summer in Centre, Blair, Huntingdon and Clinton counties.

Patton's older sister, Caroll Patton, also faces charges, but her case has not gone to trial yet.
