Blair County Business Owners Face Drug Charges

ALTOONA, Pa. —

They said it was a way to get extra money for Christmas, but a Blair County couple is now facing drug charges after a search at their home and business.

Jimmy and Sherry Fornari own Dutch Hauling and TC's Convenience store at the corner of East Fifth Avenue and First Street in Altoona.

Police said the confiscated nearly $60,000 from the business, as well as cocaine and two pounds of marijuana with a street value of $6,000, a digital scale, drug-packing equipment and a loaded handgun.

According to a police report, Sherry Fornari was at the store when Drug Enforcement Agency officers raided the businesses. In a written statement to police, she said the couple recently started selling marijuana to bring in more money for Christmas.

People who know the couple and shop at their store were shocked to hear about the arrests.

"They do a lot for people who have nothing. They took out an investment when Sheetz closed down so the neighborhood could have some food," said Jimmy Strunk, of Blair County.

The couple faces numerous charges including possession with the intent to deliver. Police are crediting the couple's arrest to tips called into the Push Out The Pusher hotline.

The Fornaris remain free on bail.
