Blair County Community Rocked By Crime Spree

TYRONE, Pa. —

A string of burglaries in Tyrone has led police to arrest seven suspects--four adults and three juveniles.

Tyrone Police Chief Joe Beachem said the suspects could be connected to multiple home burglaries, at least five stolen cars, and two robberies at a local business over the past months.

The owner of Logan Beverage said his business was robbed twice by the same suspects, who were 17 and 18 years old. A security camera caught the robberies on tape. The robbers made off with just petty cash and a few cases of beer.

Tyrone residents said the crime problem in the community stems from a larger drug problem. Police agreed. However, the said they think there is an end in sight if they continue to address the drug problem.

A hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
