Blair County —
The Blair County Commissioners have ruled areas disastrous after residents are left with major flooding problems from Hurricane Francis. Some homes have creeks running through them, others completely destroyed. The County's Emergency Management Agency reports hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage and the American Red Cross reports more than 20 homes destroyed and 300 damaged. The Red Cross advises victims to sterilize flooded areas but not to put things back in place in case Hurricane Ivan heads this way. The Red Cross is setting up a service center at the Claysburg Fire Department to help victims. Here are the hours....Wed-10AM-6PM, Thurs & Fri-9A-6PM, Sat-9AM-1PM and Sun-9AM-6PM. County officials hope the state and federal government will also declare a disaster so aide will be available for victims.
