Blair County Soldier Killed In Iraq

WILLIAMSBURG, Pa. —

A Blair County soldier died this week from injuries he suffered in Iraq.

Spc. Chad Edmundson, 20, of Williamsburg, died at a hospital in Baghdad. Officials said Edmundson was on foot patrol with members of the Iraqi Army when a bomb detonated.

Edmundson was on tour in Iraq with the 56th Stryker Brigade as an infantryman and was due to come home in September.

In his hometown, a makeshift memorial took shape in the heart of town, and people at Williamsburg High School were honoring the man who just graduated last spring.

One of Edmundson's former teachers said he loved his country and joined the National Guard his senior year.

He will be posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge. He is survived by his parents, sister and fiancé.
