Blair County's Sheriff's Department Confiscated Over 4,000 Contraband Items Through Courthouse Entrance

The Security Screening Supervisor at the Blair County Courthouse said the sheriff's department has confiscated about 4,430 contraband items from people that make their way through the front entrance.

An X-Ray machine and walk-through metal detector were installed in June 2007.

"It's obviously a tremendous help," said Glenn Marinak, security screen supervisor. "Its in no way perfect but it serves it's purpose where we can keep the employees and the public safe when they visit the court house."

Marinak said he put together a photo album of some of the outstanding items, including drugs, knives and even a gun.

He said 95 percent of the items are returned to the owner.

Marinak said that most of the items taken aren't illegal but they don't have a place in the courthouse.
