Blaze Leaves Family Homeless

Blair County —

A Thursday morning fire left a Blair County family homeless.

Local volunteer fire departments responded around 6:30 a.m. to a fire on Kettle Road in Sinking Valley.

It took fire departments, including Greenwood and Sinking Valley, less than two hours to extinguish the blaze.

All occupants of the single-family home made it out safely, but the blaze completely destroyed the front of the home and the porch.

The rear of the home was salvaged, but it is not clear if the family plans on rebuilding at the same site.

The fire chief on scene said the blaze did not appear to be suspicious, but officials are still investigating.
