Johnstown —
One of the vacant homes used to stand on Everhart Street. Residents now say the city demolished it around the holidays. The multi-story home was boarded up with overgrown plants and trees and different home appliances and other items scattered around. Now, a nearly untouched layer of snow lies in its place. The animals and smell are gone. Down the street, another blighted building is also gone. Neighbors here are thrilled these eyesores are no more.
Mirrel Plummer, a neighbor, said, "We had a party after it was torn down. All the neighbors celebrated at the same time, waving and happy. Really glad it's gone. We don't have the smell or nothing no more. We're really happy about it."
As for the other homes, Johnstown city officials were unavailable Friday afternoon to let us know their status.
