Bobbi Jo Morgan To Face Trial

CLEARFIELD, Pa. —

As part of the preliminary hearing, Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw, Jr. called six witnesses to the stand Wednesday to talk about what they saw on July 25, 2007.

According to police, that is day Bobbi Jo Morgan swerved off Route 36 in Mahaffey, killing Bertha Kitchen and her three-year-old granddaughter Samantha.

The hearing lasted over two hours and several members of the victim's family attended.

According to attorneys on both sides of the case, the deaths have been hard on everyone involved.

"She knows an accident she was involved in took the lives of two people," said Brian Manchester, Morgan's attorney. "She feels horrible about that."

At the heart of this case is the fact that Morgan had just left a methadone clinic near Clearfield before the accident.

"I think it's important to remember, if you're driving under the influence of controlled substances, there can be profound consequences," said Clearfield County District Attorney William Shaw.

Morgan was held on all charges, and will face trial within six months.
