Boil Water Notice Affects Ice Company

For nearly a week, some residents in a small Cambria County community have been boiling their water for a minute before they use it. Its because the Northern Cambria Water Authority had a malfunction in its cleaning process. It has affected 1200 residents and some businesses including an ice company which has completely stopped production.

When Rich Rogel, the owner of Rogel's Ice found out about the boil water notice he immediately halted ice production and recalled all of the deliveries made that day. Rogel tests the ice on regular basis, and the ice sent out that day tested fine but Rogel just wanted to be cautious.

Although production has stopped, deliveries have not. Rogel has been delivering ice produced long before the boil water notice.

The Water Authority said they have sent several samples away to be tested. Once the Department of Environmental Protection gives them the OK, the authority will lift the notice.
