Altoona Police told Channel 6 News early Friday evening that Richard Lane is not under arrest and is not being charged with anything. He spent a number of hours at the police department cooperating with the hit and run investigation.

Police put out the picture of Lane as a person of interest in this case. Police say Lane came in because his picture was in the media. The victim in this hit and run accident last week was Orville Crawford. He was hit by an SUV on his way home from work at a local restaurant. Police say he bled to death while the 2 people in the SUV ran from the scene.

Police are not saying why Lane is a person of interest in this case. However, they are learning a lot more in this investigation now because of Lane.
