Man attacks woman in State College with knife; Police searching for assailant

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. —

Pennsylvania State Police are using helicopters to search for a man who attacked a woman with a knife in State College on Wednesday.


As of 4:55 p.m., State College and several other local police agencies were also actively searching for the assailant.

According to Penn State Live, the attack happened around 3 p.m. near Vairo Boulevard. Investigators said the woman was riding a bike on a trail near the boulevard in Ferguson Township when she was attacked.

The assailant is described as a white man with facial hair, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing black clothing, a backpack and possibly a gray sweatshirt.

He is believed to be carrying a knife and should be considered dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to immediately call police.

The assailant was last seen in a wooded area near Sunset Park, an area with a high student population. Students and residents in the area are advised to stay inside and lock their doors.

The victim was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center, according to Penn State Live.
