Brockway Mould will close at the end of the week

BROCKWAY, Pa. —

It's a sign of the times and another business is closing in our area. 

At the end of the week, Brockway Mould will stop production at its facility along Route 219 in Jefferson County. 

The plant manager told 6 News there are about 35 employes still working at the facility. 

Brockway Mould has been in Jefferson County for about 40 years. 

Jefferson County Commissioner, Jeffrey Pisarcik told 6 News this is a tough loss for the county. 

"It is kind of devastating to the people.  Number one to the area, but to the people who have worked there and have retired there," he said. 

Brockway Mould was purchased in 1994 by Ross Mould. 

Ross Mould has other facilities in The United States, South Africa, Colombia and Hungary. 

Officials said due to outsourcing and the industry moving more oversea's they have to shut down. 

Unemployment numbers in Jefferson County have declined over the last three years, but currently sits around eight percent. 

Pisarcik said he hopes that the employees who will be laid off find work elsewhere soon.
