Brockway Teachers React To Student's Death

BROCKWAY, Pa. —

One day after an accident that killed a student, a single red rose marks the spot where he died.

Matthew Nichols was killed in a one-car accident Thursday on Clay Plant Road.

His first-period art teacher said Nichols always led the Pledge of Allegiance and his classmates were surprised when Nichols wasn't in class.

"We looked around, and someone said, 'Where's Matt?" said Joellyn ElMasry.

Later, the school principal broke the news to the senior class.

Now, students have created a card for Nichols' parents, expressing their condolences.
