Brookville Looks At Longer School Days

BROOKVILLE, Pa. —

One Jefferson County school district is looking at extending school days for students.

Officials at the Brookville Area School District said the plan is in the early stages.

Right now, they're looking at extending the day for elementary students by 25 minutes.

High school students would have about 30 extra minutes of school every day.

District officials said they haven't decided how the extra time would be added to the day.

They're considering the change because the district is close to the minimum education hours required by Pennsylvania schools.

One parent told WJAC-TV the extra time in the classroom could help improve the academic performance of district students.
