Brookville Teachers Move Closer To New Contract

BROOKVILLE, Pa. —

At long last, could there be an end in sight for teacher negotiations in one local school district?

For the past few years, the Brookville School District and its teachers have been at odds over pay scale and benefits. But Wednesday night, that could all come to an end.

The Brookville teachers have been working without a contract since 2004 and went on strike for a while in 2005 and 2006. Wednesday night contract talks resume between the district and its teachers. Those familiar with the situation feel they are closer now than they have for a while and are hopeful tentative agreement could be reached tonight.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the high school but is not open to the public due to it being a personnel meeting.
