Business Holds Raffle To Help Johnstown Soup Kitchen

A local business is holding a raffle to help a downtown Johnstown soup kitchen.

Wisteria Lane in Richland Township is selling raffle tickets for $1 for a change to win a large statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The raffle benefits the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen, which relies solely on donations.

Workers at the soup kitchen said they are busier than ever.

"More and more people are in need of food down here and this is what we're all about: to help the people, to help the needy," said Joe Bartko, who runs Family Kitchen. "We ask no questions. Come in the door here and you get a meal, no questions asked."

A winner will be drawn on Dec. 23. Raffle tickets are available at Wisteria Lane on Scalp Avenue.
