Businesses Banking On Thunder In The Valley

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

It's the biggest event of the year for Cambria County and as Thunder In the Valley continues to take over the Johnstown region. Businesses are hoping to bring in the cash.

Most of the bikers come from out of town and that means they have to stay somewhere.

Hotels including the Holiday Inn are booked for two to three night stays at a time.

Local businessman Mark Pasquerilla said the event is a great opportunity for the tourism industry. People come to visit Johnstown and have a good time.

Those thousands of bikers also could bring problems. The Johnstown Police have been on crowd and traffic control since the event started this week.

Captain Andy Frear said they make arrests if necessary, but for the most part everyone gets along. It's an event the people of Johnstown and surrounding communities love to have so we'll continue having it.
