Cambria Co. Man Charged In Connection With Double-Fatal Crash

Charges have been filed against a man who is accused of causing a crash that killed a husband and wife.

Michael Sherwood, of Northern Cambria County, is charged with homicide by vehicle and homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence.

In October 2010, Sherwood's pickup truck crossed the center line of Nicktown Hill Road in Northern Cambria County and crashed head-on into Dick and Lois Davis' car, officials said.

The Davises were on their way home from the grocery store, officials said. Lois died at the scene and Dick died a few weeks later in the hospital.

Police said Sherwood had left a methadone clinic in Johnstown within three hours before the crash.

Sherwood had methadone and other drugs in his system, according to an affidavit showing city toxicology results.
