Cambria County EMA Cancels Vaccination Days

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. —

The shortage of the seasonal flu vaccines continues to take it's toll on the Alleghenies. Now two more vaccination days have been cancelled, and it could have an effect on the H1N1 vaccines as well.

The Emergency Management Agency in Cambria County was scheduled to hold a flu shot distribution this week, but because of the holdup getting vaccines, it was forced to cancel.

After Tuesday's distribution was canceled, the EMA received the seasonal flu vaccines. While it only received a portion of what it asked for, officials said they are happy with the 1,500 doses they were able to get. However, until further notice, flu shots will continue to be limited.

Officials were hoping to use the seasonal flu distributions at local pod sites as practice for the H1N1 vaccines, but now it may not happen with the recent cancellations.

Cambria County EMA has requested 8,500 doses of the H1N1 vaccine for local schools, but it's not clear when or how much the county will get.
