Cambria County Religious Figure Dies

One of Cambria County's best-known religious figures,the Reverend Monsignor Joseph Kiniry, passed away Sunday at his home in Johnstown.

He was ordained to the priesthood in 1950 and served parishes all across the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese. he served as Pastor of St. Benedict Parish in Geistown for 25 years until his retirement in 2001.

He received two special honors from Pope John Paul Second and he's also remembered for serving as host of "Religion Today" here on WJAC-TV for almost 20 years.

Monsignor Kiniry died at the age 82.
